Is This The Right Licence Course For You?

Taking the first steps into the Road Transport Industry can be difficult. Standard heavy vehicle licensing courses are not sufficient in meeting the needs of the Road Transport industry. As a result, employers of heavy vehicle drivers are generally unable to hire new entrant drivers without having to put that new entrant driver through extensive work place training at their cost in order to bridge the skills gap between the level of driving skill and knowledge obtained by a new entrant driver during a standard heavy vehicle licensing course and the level of driving skill and knowledge that the employer actually requires in their work place.

Although the Road Transport Industry needs many new drivers in the years ahead to keep up with projected transport needs, new entrant drivers will not only need to have a great attitude and be customer focused, they will also need to highly skilled in all aspects of heavy vehicle driving and be able to demonstrate to their prospective employer during an on-the-job driving assessment that they have the high level driving skills and knowledge required to be able to operate a heavy vehicle in a safe and competent manner at all times in any type of driving environment that a professional driver would be exposed to on a daily basis.

Learning and applying high-level heavy vehicle driving skills and techniques takes time. Armstrongs' Nationally Accredited Industry Licence Courses are designed to provide students with the necessary amount of time-behind-the-wheel training required to obtain the capacity to drive a heavy vehicle in safe and competent manner at a level required by the Road Transport Industry.

Course Overview

Armstrongs' Nationally Accredited Industry Licence Courses have been custom designed to provide students with an amount of time behind-the-wheel far exceeding that ordinarily delivered in a standard licensing course in order to develop and enhance a student's driving skills and knowledge and provide students with the best opportunity to successfully pass a pre-employment practical driving skills assessment.

TLILIC2014 - Licence to drive a light rigid vehicle
  • A current Australian Driver's Licence card; held for a minimum of 12 months; a secondary form of ID is also required; please refer to Armstrongs' Terms & Conditions for details.
  • Wear appropriate clothing, including fully enclosed shoes, either boots or runners.
  • Please Note: From 1 January 2015 all students undertaking nationally recognised training delivered by a registered training organisation will need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) in order to receive a nationally-recognised certificate or statement of attainment.
  • The USI is a reference number which will allow students the ability to access their USI account and see all of their training results from all of the training providers that they have attended. The USI is designed to make it easier for students to find and collate all of their VET achievements into a single authenticated transcript.

TLILIC2015 - Licence to drive a medium rigid vehicle
  • A current Australian Driver's Licence card; held for a minimum of 12 months; a secondary form of ID is also required; please refer to Armstrongs' Terms & Conditions for details.

TLILIC2016 - Licence to drive a heavy rigid vehicle
  • A current Australian Driver's Licence card; held for a minimum of 24 months; a secondary form of ID is also required; please refer to Armstrongs' Terms & Conditions for details.
  • You must be competent in the operation of a manual vehicle; and have obtained your licence in a manual vehicle.
  • Wear appropriate clothing, including fully enclosed shoes, either boots or runners.
  • Please Note: From 1 January 2015 all students undertaking nationally recognised training delivered by a registered training organisation will need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) in order to receive a nationally-recognised certificate or statement of attainment.
  • The USI is a reference number which will allow students the ability to access their USI account and see all of their training results from all of the training providers that they have attended. TLILIC3017 - Licence to drive a heavy combination vehicle
  • A current Australian Driver's Licence card; and have held a medium or heavy rigid licence for minimum of 12 months; a secondary form of ID is also required; please refer to Armstrongs' Terms and Conditions for details
  • You must be competent in the operation of a manual vehicle; and have obtained your licence in a manual vehicle.
  • Wear appropriate clothing, including fully enclosed shoes, either boots or runners.

  • You must be competent in the operation of a manual vehicle; and have obtained your licence in a manual vehicle.

All Armstrongs' Nationally Accredited Industry Licence Courses come with:

  • Unlimited Optional Pre-Drive Theory Sessions Prior To Your Driver Training 
    Armstrongs takes the stress out of preparing for, and sitting, your theory test and off-road skills assessment. If you don't feel that you're ready to sit your theory test after your first Pre-Drive Session, simply come to as many Pre-Drive sessions as you like before your driver training commences at no additional cost. You'll also get one free theory retest.

  • Double the Attempts to Pass Your Driving Assessment
    Apart from nearly double the amount of behind-the-wheel training than any other standard licensing course, you'll also get four attempts at passing your driving  assessment. 

*Where a student requires additional retests, the fifth retest and any subsequent retest will be charged at $250.00 per retest.
